Before you begin any customisation on the theme, you must create two pages – Home and Blog – for applying the theme’s default templates for these types of pages.
Creating Home Page
1. Click on Pages in the left navigation bar.
2. Click on Add New in this navigation bar.
3. Give the page a name. Example: Home.
4. From the right hand side, in Page Attributes, select Homepage from the drop-down for templates.
5. Click Publish.
6. Your default Home Page is in place.
Creating Blog Page
1. Click on Pages in the left navigation bar.
2. Click on Add New in this navigation bar.
3. Give the page a name. Example: Blog. Please note that this name should be different from the page name given for home page.
4. From the right hand side, in Page Attributes, select Full Width Page from the drop-down for templates.
5. Click Publish.
6. Your default Blog Page is in place.
Defining Reading Styles
WordPress is extremely flexible and theme creators rely on this flexibility to customise their themes. Reading settings are one of the many parameters that help in defining what your customers see the first, on your website. For customising the Reading Settings, please follow the following steps:
1. Mouse-over on Settings in the left navigation bar.
2. Click on Reading.
3. Under the section Front Page Displays, select A static page.
4. Select Home from the drop-down for Front Page.
5. Select Blog from the drop-down for Posts Page.
6. Click on Save Changes.
