We headed to 64 after much dilly-dallying for a friend’s birthday. The primary reason was Bangalore’s traffic after some light showers. Our initial destination was a place in Indiranagar, but we decided to stay in Koramangala to reduce our Carbon footprint (read sarcasm) and the dinosaurs that were running amok in our stomach.
64 is situated in the residential-cum-shopping district near HDFC bank on the way to Forum from NGV opposite Jukebox. There is sufficient parking space and the environs are almost free of traffic noise.
The place is housed in…well, a house. You might want to call out for your friend as you enter the place, mistaking it to be just another house. We seated our office-bruised butts in the smoking area which was pretty well ventilated. Being a weekday, getting a table wasn’t a big deal and sadly, the crowd was really boring as well. Hope the weekends are better (read good looking ladies).
The drinks they serve out here are really great. I would not term them as awesome, but they sure are great. We had ordered Apple and Kiwi Martinis for those who had to go home to family and beer for the one who did not have to.
The portions for snacks were good for two, considering you don’t treat snacks as main course. We had sumptuous servings of shredded chicken, chicken lollipops, Mongolian chicken, mushrooms and French fries.
The service was efficient and the waiters were helpful. Since we had ordered 6 Tuborgs, they brought in a bucket full of ice to keep the fermented water cool.
I would suggest this place if you want to hang out with friends and have a good time. Sit out in the smoking zone even if you do not smoke as the weather just adds to the fun.
An important tip: Head to this place before 8 PM and enjoy happy hours with a 1+1 on most of the drinks.
The pocket was lighter by Rs 4000 after tonnes of food, 9 Martinis, 6 Tuborgs and 2 mocktails. Pretty decent, I must say.
